Audition Screening

For UPTA 2025 all actors must provide a link to a high quality 90-second audition video which will be screened and rated by 5 UPTA companies.

Those with the highest average scores will be seen first by the UPTA Companies, though all videos will be submitted to all Companies.

In an effort to maintain the high quality of auditions that UPTA has had for 30 years, we are instituting the following registration process for auditions. Everyone must provide a link to a high quality 90-second audition video which will be screened and rated by 5 UPTA companies.

Those with the highest average scores will be the first to receive audition numbers.

  • We must receive your video link by 9/22/24. Sooner if possible!
  • You may only link to one video.
  • Preferred formats are YouTube, Vimeo, or MP4 HTML5 compatible files.
  • It must be an AUDITION video. Do not link to clips from performances.
  • Your video should be no more than 90 seconds in length.
  • Please make sure the video is HIGH quality and that we can see you clearly.
  • Please make sure the sound quality of your video is good and that we can hear you clearly.
  • If you are acting only, your 90 seconds must include at least one monolog, more if you like, but you may not exceed 90 seconds total.
  • If you are acting and singing, your 90 seconds must include at least one monolog in addition to your song. NO SINGING ONLY.
  • The order in which you present your material is up to you.
  • If you are singing, DO NOT SING ACAPELLA. You must include some form of accompaniment.
  • Do not accompany yourself.
  • If you are singing, make sure we can hear your voice clearly above your accompaniment.
  • Do not over-dub or lip-sync.
  • The song must be presented on video – not as an audio file.
  • Show the video to your teachers and coaches before submitting.
  • This Audition Screening Video does NOT have to be the package you present at UPTA in February, but if you intend to sing in February, your video must contain a singing audition.
  • Slate only with your name.
  • DO NOT INCLUDE YOUR SCHOOL
  • DO NOT INCLUDE INFO ABOUT YOUR PIECES
  • Your videos will be seen by 5 UPTA company reps and judged on a scale from 1 (should NOT attend UPTA) to 5 (should attend UPTA).
  • The reps will not see your resume. You will be adjudicated solely on the merits of your 90-second package.
  • Those receiving an average of 5 will be taken, in order of registration, and assigned audition numbers first. Then those who average 4.8, then 4.6, and so on.
